Former President John Mahama has called on the family of Marcus Mawutor Adzahli to commiserate with them over the death of the Sogakope South Assemblyman.

Adzahli was shot in his room by unidentified armed robbers last Sunday. Police in the Volta Region have since arrested three suspects who have been sent to the regional capital, Ho for interrogation.
Leading a delegation of National Democratic Congress (NDC) officials to the family, Mahama, while expressing their condolences, “urged the police to step up efforts to follow their leads and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
The NDC flagbearer also slammed the circumstances surrounding the killing of the Assemblymember.
He added, “…failure of the security agencies to respond to numerous calls from the deceased and his neighbours over the period the robbers were trying to break down his door, has angered both the youth and the elderly in the Community.”

“Mawutor was a young, enterprising and recently elected Assembly Member of the Sogakope District Assembly. For many of the youth in Toklokpo and Sogakope, he was one of the dynamic and influential young business persons emanating from the area,” he wrote in a statement.
The murder of Adzahli sparked a series of protests among the youth and residents in the area.

Angry residents mounted roadblocks to protest the murder of the Assemblyman who was elected months ago in the December 2019 District Level Elections.
The situation left a long queue of vehicles behind both ends of the Sogakope Bridge for hours.
Former President Jerry Rawlings has placed a GH¢25,000 bounty on the head of the killers, this is besides many other offers of money on information leading to the arrest of the unscrupulous persons.
