A fifty-six-year-old man in Abelenkpe has set himself ablaze, Tesano Police have confirmed.
Michael Kofi Kumanyo’s charred body was found lying in front of his own house by a security man, Monday morning.
He was reported to have left a suicide note before self-immolating himself.
Family members are tight-lipped on the matter, but neighbours told Joy News’ Nana Agyei Essuman the deceased was suffering from TB, a situation likely to have forced him to commit suicide.
Reading portions of the suicide note, the Tesano Police crime officer S.K Banya Kyeremeh said the deceased thanked the family members for their care and support but noted the medicine they had been giving him was not helping and that it was better for him to kill himself.
He said his outfit will investigate if the deceased was indeed suffering from TB and the circumstances under which the suicide was committed.
He said the police will conduct a postmortem on the charred body before returning it to the family members for burial.
