Isaac Ansah, a 32-year-old farmer, has been arrested by the Suhum District Police for allegedly murdering his 28-year-old wife.
The deceased was said to have demanded “Christmas items” from her husband for herself and their two children.
According to the Eastern Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwabena Gyamera-Yeboah, the suspect had two wives and lived with the first one at Koka whiles the deceased Adwoa Yemoley, 28, lived with her two sons at Akorabo all in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District.
He said on January 4, the deceased who was expecting "Christmas items" from her husband which were not forthcoming, decided to go to Koka to demand them but that later generated into a misunderstanding. The deceased therefore stay until she had received the items but was persuaded by the suspect to return since he would bring the items personally at a later date.
ACP Gyamera-Yeboah said around 2000 hours, on the same day, the suspect offered to see the wife off only to shoot her on the way at close range in a nearby bush.
Later, some people in the town discovered the body and immediately suspected the husband who was arrested by the town folks and handed over to the Suhum Police.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at the Suhum Government hospital.
