Catherine Serwah Chond, Marketing Manageress of Marie Stopes International, a UK-based NGO, has expressed the organisation's willingness to partner government to fight maternal mortality in the country.
She said her outfit was, therefore, poised to ensure that women had greater access to good reproductive health services.
Madam Chond was addressing a cross-section of members of the University of Ghana branch of the Ghana National Association of Graduate Teachers on Campus (GNATOC), at Legon in Accra.
The programme was aimed at sensitizing students on how to avoid unwanted pregnancy.
Speaking on the topic, "Reproductive Health Education and breast screening", Madam Chond advised the students on the need to adopt family planning methods to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
She said the NGO will continue to undertake outreach programmes and offer free services to women in rural communities.
She expressed wary about the rate at which cancer was growing in the country and advised women to take care of their breasts to avoid contracting breast cancer.
The Public Relations Officer of GNATOC, Mahama Tampuri Yamusah, urged mothers to breast-feed their babies since it helped to promote their health.
He advised mothers to desist from the habit of letting their mothers breastfeed their babies.
The chairman of GNATOC, Mr Francis Jortuotey Xaxier urged teachers to educate society on some pertinent health issues.
He said as role models, it behoves teachers to lead exemplary lives for others to emulate.
