A Circuit Court in Accra has denied bail to Amina Mohammed, the lady who claimed to have witnessed the mass rape incident in a Tamale-bound bus. The court did not give any reasons for turning down the application for bail. She will reappear on November 9, 2010. Speaking to Joy News after Amina was remanded, her counsel, Prof. Ken Attafuah, said the prosecution argued Amina would interfere with investigations if she was granted bail. He said although he opposed the argument, the presiding judge, Mrs Patience Mills Tetteh, upheld the argument of the prosecution and remanded Amina. The suspect has been charged with publishing false information with the intent to cause fear and alarm and deceiving a public officer. Amina Mohammed was picked by the police on Saturday to assist in investigations after she told journalists that passengers on board a Tamale-bound bus were forced by armed robbers to rape each other.
