Joseph Gordon was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of this year’s MTN FA Cup Competition as Medeama chalked majority of the honours at the awards ceremony on Saturday night.
The talented midfielder played an instrumental role in helping the Mauves win the FA Cup competition after beating Premier League champions Asante Kotoko in the grand finale.
The Tarkwa-based side went on to win two other major categories as they finished the night at the State Banquet Hall in Accra as with the most awards.
Rashid Sumaila was awarded for his heroics with Asante Kotoko last term as he was named the Best Defender of the tournament.
The Ghana international who is now with South African club Mamelodi Sundowns came up tops against Medeama’s Godfred Rockson, Amidaus’ Emmanuel Ofori and his ex Kotoko teammate Kwabena Edusei.
Nania FC’s Maxwell Ashirefi and Robert Ghansah of Eleven Wise shared the Top Scorer award as they both scored four goals each in the tournament while Asante Kotoko won the Highest Scoring Team of the tournament with a goal tally of 17 goals.
Theophilus Anorbah’s thunderous strike against Asante Kotoko to win the tournament for Medeama was adjudged the Best Goal of the tournament.
The competition’s winning coach Evans Adotey was duly awarded the Best Coach of the tournament after beating competition from Amidaus’ Tony Lokko, Asante Kotoko’s Mas-Ud Dramani and David Duncan of Hearts of Oak.
Frederich Acheampong of second tier club Rainbow FC was also named the Discovery of the tournament – beating Mighty Jets’ Emmanuel Laryea, Ben Arthur of Amidaus Professionals and Medeama’s Joseph Gordon.
