Lawrence Kwesi Botchway aka Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has carved a remarkable path in the legal and public administration spheres, amassing an impressive academic portfolio and a wealth of professional experience that position him as one of Ghana’s rising legal minds.
Botchway’s academic journey is one marked by determination and excellence. He laid his foundation at Light of the World School Complex and St. Martin’s Senior High School before advancing to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), where he earned a Diploma in Public Relations Management.
His relentless pursuit of knowledge led him to acquire not one but two undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with Second Class Upper Honors from KAAF University College under the auspices of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations Management from UPSA.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Botchway went further to secure two master’s degrees, demonstrating his commitment to academic and professional excellence.
He obtained a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from GIMPA, providing him with critical governance and policy-making expertise. His academic achievements reached another milestone on Friday, February 14, 2025, when he earned a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Energy Law, Regulation, and Policy from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Additionally, his expertise in global affairs was broadened through a Postgraduate Mastery Certificate in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Executive Center for Postgraduate Studies. His legal training was crowned with the Professional Barrister-at-Law (BL) Certificate from the Ghana School of Law (Makola), qualifying him as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
Beyond his impressive academic feats, Botchway has built a distinguished professional career spanning multiple sectors. His journey began in 2016 as an Administrative Assistant at a school, where he played a crucial role in curriculum evaluation, staff training, and institutional management.
In 2019, he undertook an internship at Kulendi @ Law (Maalo Chambers), gaining firsthand experience in legal practice, including court proceedings, legal research, and drafting pleadings. His commitment to public service became evident during his National Service at the Ministry of Aviation (July 2020 – August 2021), where he assisted the Deputy Minister with administrative duties, research, and policy coordination.
Further refining his legal acumen, Botchway interned at the Legal Department of the Parliament of Ghana (July 2023 – September 2023), working on legal research, drafting parliamentary instruments, and reviewing constitutional documents. Currently, he is a Pupil at Ghartey & Ghartey, a renowned law firm in Ghana, where he continues to hone his legal expertise.
