Management of the Melcom Ghana Limited today held a special memorial service to commemorate the second anniversary of the Melcom Achimota branch building collapse which killed thirteen (13) staff and wounded thirty-three (33).
The management and staff, clad in white, assembled at the premises of the Melcom Plus at the South Industrial Area, where a minute of silence was observed .
In an address read on his behalf by the communications Director of the company, Godwin Avenorgbo, the Chairman of the Melcom Group of Companies, Mr. Bhagwan Khubchanani thanked God for strengthening the company and helping them withstand those challenging times.
He said the company has paid all compensations due to the workers who were affected by the tragic incident as determined by the medical authorities and the workmen’s compensation act. 
He noted that the company is sponsoring one child each of those parents lost their life in the incident, to the highest level of education.
In addition the company announced ten scholarship packages for the children staff of the company.
Mr. Khubchanani praised some of the survivors who are still working with the company.
To avoid the future occurrence of such disasters, the company has put in some safety measures in which Structural Integrity Tests have been conducted by an accredited engineering company on all the company’s buildings.
The Chairman assured customers of Achimota and its surrounding communities that Melcom will leave no stone unturned to re-establish an Achimota Branch as soon as possible.
