Mfantisipim School beat off competition from holders St Augustine’s College and 30 other second cycle institutions, to win the 2020 Central Region Super Zonal Athletics Championship.

‘Kwabotwe' were dominant in the two-day competition held at the Schools and Colleges Park in Cape Coast, winning gold medals in flagship events and amassing more points with an increasing number in sprints, long-distance and short-distance final events.

St. Augustine’s College came into this year’s competition as defending champions having retained the overall trophy since 2016, but failed to match their arch-rivals who found a way back at the top of the zone after amassing 158 points.

Mfantsipim School had 56 more points than St. Augustine College who came in second with a tally of 152points. Adisadel College placed 3rd with 86 points whilst Aggrey Memorial School came in 4th with 29.5 points.

The win means the red and black boys reclaim number one position in the zone for the first time since 2015. The Mfantsipim show was spearheaded by amazing talent – Aziz Mohammed who singlehandedly won gold medals in 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m and 800 medley amongst others on the day.
