Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister has urged contractors working on the Adum-Asafo Interchange, Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the City Hotel and the Ghana@50 Durbar Grounds to work hard to complete the various projects on schedule.
He also called on the workers to give off their best so that the projects would be ready as the nation prepares for the Golden Jubilee celebration and the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2008.
Mr Owusu-Ansah was briefing the press after his tour of the various on going projects to assess the rate of progress of work in Kumasi.
He commended the various contractors on the progress of work and said his concern was to see that the projects were completed for use.
At Adum-Asafo Interchange project being executed by Sarroch Gelfi-JV, Muhamad Ghanen, Site Engineer and Patris Gianfranco, Site Manager, said about 87 per cent of the project has been completed.
Mr Gianfranco expressed the hope to complete the project within four months.
Conducting the Regional Minister round the stadium, Stefano Ramella, Managing Director of Consar Company Limited, said the company were at the stage of re-grassing the field of play, adding that 90 per cent of the seats were completed and on completion, there would be 34,000 seats at the popular stand and 6,000 at the VIP stand.
He said a lift was under construction for the four-storey VIP stand, adding that 60 per cent of the project had been completed.
A visit to the other projects indicated the seriousness that the contractors and the workers attached to the jobs with the contractors pledging to complete the work on schedule.
