Disaster struck Sunyani Central Church of Pentecost Mission House on Thursday when part of the house collapsed, following a heavy downpour.Though there was no casualty, the damage was extremely severe as parts of the ground floor were washed away by the rains. The cost was estimated at GH¢10,000.00.Two guests who had arrived from Wenchi and were sleeping in one of the room miraculously escaped unhurt.Giving details of the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Deaconess Felicia Adu Darkwah, 43, and Priscilla Ayebea Davis, 21, the occupants at the time, said they were awakened at about 0043 hours when a mixture of sand and water splashed on them. The two quickly jumped off their bed to realize that parts of the room they were sleeping in had collapsed on the bed but they were unscathed. The Reverend Charles Boamah Asante, Sunyani Central District pastor who stays upstairs with his family conducted the GNA round the house to inspect the extent of damage to property. He recounted that they were awakened by the collapse of part of the building. The walls of the mission house, which is about 95 percent complete were plastered a day before the incident. The ground floor, which comprises a hall, two bedrooms, a storeroom, a kitchen, toilet and bath used mainly by guests, was submerged in water with clothing, electrical appliances and household utensils floating. The occupants, church leaders, church members and neighbours who came to the scene were gripped with shock at the miraculous escape of the two women.Mrs Mary Asante, wife of the pastor, said they spent the rest of the night praising God for the miraculous rescue.Source: GNA
