Acting on High Royal Instructions, the Moroccan government has launched a comprehensive assistance program for populations affected by flooding in the north and west of the Kingdom following exceptional rainfall over the past two months.
According to a press release from the Office of the Head of Government, all relevant departments have been mobilised to ensure the effective implementation of the program.
The measures are based on a careful assessment of conditions on the ground and the needs of affected communities, in line with High Royal Guidelines.
Under the program, direct financial aid of up to MAD 6,000 ($600) per family will be provided to victims.
An additional MAD 15,000 ($ 1,500) will be provided for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and small businesses, while MAD 140,000 ($ 14,000) will be allocated for the reconstruction of homes that collapsed due to the floods.
Emergency financial assistance for affected families will begin next week. To access support, the head of each affected household must text 1212 with their electronic national identity card (CNIE) number and date of birth.
The relevant services will verify the information and process applications as quickly as possible.
For rehabilitation and reconstruction support, designated commissions will conduct detailed assessments in areas officially declared disaster zones.
Where necessary, affected persons may submit applications to specialised commissions for review in accordance with existing regulations, ensuring a transparent and fair process.
In the agricultural sector, targeted support will be extended to farmers in affected regions.
A spring crop programme tailored to disaster-stricken areas will be introduced, covering oilseeds, cereals and fodder crops.
The initiative will include assistance for the purchase of seeds and fertilisers to accelerate recovery during the season. Support for affected livestock farmers will also continue.
The press release states that the program reflects Royal High Care, ensuring effective supervision and management of evacuation and displacement operations.
Authorities are adopting a proactive approach to potential threats, mobilising logistical resources to facilitate the safe relocation of affected populations from disaster zones and to support their return home as soon as conditions allow.
