The mortal remains of the late former Chairman of the Council of State, Professor Kofi Awoonor has arrived in Accra.The renowned poet was shot and killed by militant group, al-Shabab at the Westgate shopping centre in Kenya.Family members including his son, Afetsi Awoonor accompanied the body.Government officials, family members and dignitaries have converged at the Kotoka International Airport to receive the remains.Some traditional rites are being performed by elders of the familty at the Kotoka International Airport.Led by Prof. Kofi Anyidoho, the family sung a farewell song for the late professor.After the short ceremony, the body will be sent to the Sakumono funeral home.The final funeral rites will be held on November 9 in Weta in the Volta region.
