MTN Ghana, has donated a cheque of GHS 5,000, MTN airtime worth GHS 1,000, souvenirs and a drink hamper to the Asogli State in support of this year’s Asogli Yam Festival.
The donation was made to the Asogli Traditional Council during a ceremony at the Secretariat of the Paramount Chief of Asogli State at Ho.
MTN has also sponsored major activities of the festival such as the grand durbar, state dance, health walk and football gala all aimed at improving the experience and fun for this year’s festival.
Presenting the items, Mr. Samuel Turkson, Area Sales Manager for South East Business District of MTN, said the donation was part of the company’s social responsibility to communities in which it operates. He expressed MTN’s gratitude to the Asogli Traditional Area for its role in making MTN the leading telecommunications network in the country.
“The chiefs and people of Ho have supported our activities and shown loyalty to the MTN brand. We are grateful for your immense contribution to MTN retaining its leadership position in the telecoms industry in the country” he said.
He also assured the people of the Asogli Traditional Area of MTN’s continued support for the Asogli Yam Festival among other festivals across the country aimed at projecting the values of the diverse Ghanaian cultures and traditions.
Mr. Samuel Turkson also commended the Agbogbomefia for his constant efforts at improving the standards of living of the people of the Asogli State through the provision of quality education, good health and energy among others.
He informed the people about MTN’s month long programme dubbed ‘iFest’ throughout September. The “iFest” initiative was recently launched to drum home the need for Ghanaians to increase their use of the internet. He said “this initiative is to drive awareness on internet usage and MTN data packages”.
Mr. Turkson further urged them to take advantage of the recently launched MTN Business which offers tailor-made ICT solutions to Small and Medium scale enterprises to boost their businesses. He reminded the people of Ho about Mobile Number Portability (MNP) and encouraged them to join the number one network in Ghana in order to enrich their lives with best offers from MTN and also ensure that their SIM cards are registered before the September 30th deadline
Receiving the gifts on behalf of Togbi Afede XIV, the Queen Mother of Ho Bankwe, Mama Agblatsu III, thanked MTN for their continued support for the festival saying that the gesture is an indication of MTN’s commitment to their social responsibility function and the advancement of society.
She assured the company of Asogli State’s continued support saying “our doors are always open to you if you need our help in your business.”
