MTN Ghana Foundation has inaugurated and handed over the new Accident and Emergency Centre and Administrative Block at the Bawjiase Polyclinic in the Central Region.
Addressing a gathering of government officials and community members, Professor Franklin Manu, Chairman of the MTN Ghana Foundation Board underscored the importance of the new facilities in enhancing healthcare delivery and improving the quality of life for residents of Bawjiase and its surrounding communities.
Highlighting the critical role of the Bawjiase Polyclinic, Prof. Manu emphasised its significance as a healthcare hub serving not only the district but also a vast number of communities within the Awutu Senya District and beyond.
He shed light on the challenges faced by the previous infrastructure, including limited bed capacity and inadequate emergency facilities, which often strained the clinic's ability to provide timely care.
The completion of the Accident and Emergency Centre and Administrative Block, he stated, heralds a new era of healthcare provision in the locality.
With essential features such as an operating theatre, emergency ward, and doctors' offices, the upgraded facility is poised to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community.
Prof. Manu expressed gratitude to the MTN Ghana Foundation and the Polyclinic's management for their collaborative efforts in realising this transformative project, which was completed at the cost of nearly GHȼ5.5 million.
Drawing attention to the Foundation's broader commitment to healthcare advancement, Prof. Manu highlighted previous initiatives, including the construction of a 60-bed maternity block at the Keta Hospital.
He reiterated the Foundation's dedication to supporting Ghana's healthcare sector and contributing to the attainment of Universal Health Coverage by 2030, as outlined by the World Health Organization.
Prof. Manu stressed the importance of maintaining the newly inaugurated facilities to ensure their sustainability, and urged both management and users to adhere to established maintenance policies, emphasising the shared responsibility in preserving these vital resources.
