An autopsy performed on the Fulani herdsman killed in the Agogo part of the Afram Plains last Sunday, has established that he did not die of gunshot wounds as speculated. Osmanu Barugu, 45, was widely believed to have been shot by unknown assailants before cutting off his head at Lugua, a farming community near the Kyenkyenku Mountain in the vast plains. The autopsy report, sighted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and signed by Dr Owusu Afriyie, a pathologist, said the deceased was not shot but died as a result of the decapitation. The headless body was found with a deep cut in the abdomen and scratches, suggesting he might have struggled with his attackers. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Sarfo Tenkorang, the Agogo Commander, told the GNA that no arrest has yet been made. They have stepped up investigations to apprehend and bring the killers to justice and already statements have been taken from some opinion leaders in the community. He said the body would be released to the family for burial, “now that the autopsy had been conducted.” Barugu was murdered on Sunday, August 26, at Lugua, where he had sent his herd of cattle to graze.
