The family of the 11 year old girl who was killed instantly after she was knocked down by a speeding car Monday, on the Lapaz section of the N1 Highway, has been thrown into state of mourning.
The late Faustina Padi was said to be crossing the three-lane dual carriageway with her twin brother, when she was hit and killed.
Mother of the late girl Naomi Donkor told Joy News’ Beatrice Adu who visited the family at the Abeka Post Office that, the twins were hesitant in going to school that fateful day.
She said she did not want to force them so she decided to send their younger brother to school. It was at the school that she was called and informed about the death of her daughter.
Sobbing throughout the interview, she recounted that the news was so painful to bear that she collapsed and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital.
She assumed that the children might have changed their mind fearing that their father would question and possibly sanction them, for not going to school.
Meanwhile the driver of the BMW car which knocked and killed the girl, is said to be responding to treatment at the Lapaz Community Hospital.
