Organizing an event is like peeling the skin of an apple but organizing an over successful event is an art that is first of all learnt and secondly acquired through a consistent achievement of quality through experience.
This is what Joy Entertainment proved on Friday Night and this knack for perfection lit up the Accra International Conference Centre for the 10th anniversary of the Joy FM Nite With The Stars, and what a night it turned out to be!
Yeah the ladies were there, the dudes had their swagger on and oh the grannies looked good, really good. And they were visibly having fun.
...and the fireworks begin
The gospel sensation Nacey and his group No Tribe set the stage for what was going to be a night filled with musical bliss and dancing feet adorned with all sorts of footwear.
The duo’s latest song Onyame Bohye gave revelers an opportunity to look forward to a great Sunday church service. As they neared the end of their act the audience seemed to want more so they obliged with the group's hit gospel medley nicely blended with such interesting dance moves sure to brighten up any dull mood.
Then came the Joy Entertainment team with a tribute to the legendary trumpeter, Mac Tontoh of Osibisa fame who painfully passed away a few months ago.
Led by Doreen “evergreen” Andoh, the team demonstrated why they have carved such a niche in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. Never mind that some of them looked really tired after a few twists and turns in their extra large smocks. Kofi Ansah, Alex Kobinna Mensah, Araba Koomson, Ernest Koranteng and Anna Agyapong all displayed a not-exactly-perfect-but-good-enough dance moves that got the ribs of many cracking.
The comperes for the night, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah and Bola Ray, were now in the right mood to set the night out.
It was time for Wulomei - the women and men who are clothed in the purity of white apparels to thrill the audience with the forever entertaining and well-written Ga traditional songs. Wulomei performed songs such as Ako Aya, Komi Kala, Meridian and Akosua Serwaa.
It is in order to say that about 50 percent of patrons may not have seen the Wulomei perform previously, but they knew their songs anyway and sang along as the musicians wriggled their 'aging' waists perfectly to applauds and cheers.
The only Doctor in high-life music, be it in Ghana or on the continent, Dr. Paa Bobo, spotting a crimson blazer stepped onto the stage to render a song that many revelers crave for wherever he finds himself: “Osobrokyere fa wonsa be wo meni, odo nti miwu a enye whee” and boy did he rock!
The originator of burger highlife George Darko also took his turn on stage to prove that he is still a force in the industry. As usual, he had the guitar strung to his bosom as he sang Odo Colour and other songs that the audience heartily danced to.
There were so many wonderful moments but sharing a few will be fair for those who through no fault of theirs missed such a night when the stars came out to touch our palms with gleams of graciously dished repertoire of music.
