The 2008 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reacted to last Tuesday’s publication by the Informer and Daily Post newspapers, which alleged that the National Investment Bank spent US$ 300,000 on Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign.
Speaking to the Statesman, Mr. Herbert Krapa, who was a member of the Communications Committee for Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign and currently an aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, explained that “several companies approached Nana’s campaign team to render services for him, some for free, some for a fee. Sky telecoms approached the Communications Committee with a voice message service which they wanted to do for us for free, as part of their contribution to Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign, to which we duly obliged.”
He further explained that “Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign had absolutely nothing to do with NIB and our records attest to that fact."
He stressed that “this whole attempt to link Nana Akufo-Addo to an act of corruption, is an exercise in futility. We are reliably informed that they have searched all the files at the Justice and Foreign Affairs ministries and have found nothing to smear Nana Akufo-Addo with, but I can assure them that they will search forever.”
He charged the various mouthpieces of the NDC to try and focus on amplifying Government projects and initiatives, and stop the incessant attempts to smear Nana Akufo-Addo with corruption.
“The Daily Post should try and post credible stories on their front page and stop being a Daily Pest, and the Informer should stop the Misinformation,” he noted.
