Nana Yaa, the songbird who owns that sweet voice behind most of Kojo Antwi, the ‘Mr Music Man’s songs, finally found her own voice and wants to sing even more powerfully.
Nana Yaa, a ‘Diva’ of Ghanaian music as many would adore her for her sweet powerful voice and daughter of celebrated Ghanaian high life legends, Pat Thomas and Lola Everette , is just about set to hit the mainstream music scene with her debut album, an 11-track yet-to-be-titled album she is convinced will be a hit.
She made the revelation in an interview with Myjoyonline.
She is recording the album at the Mix Station Studios both in London and Ghana and it is produced by Kwame Yeboah.
The diva who describes her type of music as Afro, Highlife and Soul says the album will be released early next year.
Nana Yaa started singing as a child but went professional at the age of 17. She has worked with the likes of Amadzeba, Pat Thomas, and the Tagoe Sisters. She has featured on popular songs like ‘Emirika’, ‘Do me wu’ and ‘Dofa’ which is on Kojo Antwi’s latest album ‘Mwaah!’
Nana Yaa is billed to perform at some major concerts across Europe and Africa, she will open for some major acts and most of them will be for charity.
Her manager, Kwabena Danso touched on morality and increasing ‘sex’ music in the society and said “People judge because of religious morality however sex is a major part of life. If you deny sexuality, it is wrong and if you abuse it too, it is also wrong.”
