National Deputy Youth Organizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have urged political leaders to advise their members to be civil in their political activities.
They said as the nation prepares towards the 2012 general elections, it was necessary that the leaders impressed upon their members to refrain from all forms of insults and other utterances that could inflame passion.
Mr Prince Iddrissu Mahmoud, the Spokesperson, stated that Ghanaians could not take for granted the peace they are enjoying and as such all should work hard to consolidate on the gains made over the years.
He was speaking to newsmen in Kumasi after a meeting of the Organizers to take stock of their activities.
Mr Mahmoud indicated that it was high time the citizenry irrespective of their political leanings demonstrated political maturity in their activities and come out with suggestions and ideas for sustainable growth.
He spoke against instances where the Presidency was subjected to all forms of insults by some people, saying this does not auger well for the progress of the nation.
The Spokesperson called on the Organizers to work assiduously to help the NDC retain power in 2012.
He also stressed the need to relieve Mr Ludwig Hlodze, National Youth Organizer of the NDC, of his new appointment as a Presidential Aide in order to enable him concentrate on party activities so far as the party was concerned.
