The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have condemned Nana Akufo-Addo’s “all die be die” comments saying this confirms that the NPP flagbearer is truly a "warmonger."
Nana Akufo-Addo told party supporters in the Eastern Region on Tuesday February 8 that the NPP will not tolerate any attempts by members of the NDC to intimidate its members in the 2012 General Elections.
According to Nana Addo, the NPP was founded with courageous and bold people who are ready to die for the party if need be to wrestle political power in 2012.
His comments have since drawn widespread condemnation from party bigwigs from the ruling NDC, with some suggesting the NPP flag bearer may be planning to engineer troubles during the 2012 polls.
Speaking to Citi News, the Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, Richard Quashigah said the comments are unfortunate and clearly show that Nana Addo is a "desperate person wanting to be President."
“Clearly Nana Akufo-Addo is only confirming that he is a warmonger and one who believes in bloodshed. I do not know what warranted that kind of statement from Nana Addo but I am convinced of one thing, this is a man desperate for power who obviously is beginning to come to touch with reality that he is not going to be President of this country and would want to plunge this country into an unnecessary war”.
Meanwhile, the Communications Team of NPP flag bearer is on the defensive after the former foreign Minister made the public statement that has sparked outrage in some circles.
The Director of Communications for the NPP, Hon Nana Akomea said the campaign team will not render an apology for Nana Addo’s comments, insisting that the flagbearer’s comments were inspiring.
“The comments are completely appropriate and I am inspired by what he has said and I believe that the millions of NPP supporters will be inspired. If the leader himself is coming up to lead at the front all of us will follow him. At the end of the day you have to realize that nobody wants chaos in this country but If somebody threatens you with bullying you have to stand up to it”.
