The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it would not countenance any sort of manipulation of the 2008 election results.
The party stressed that it would do anything "democratically possible" to consolidate its first round victory.
The NDC’s National Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, told a hurriedly organised press conference in Accra that the party is aware of some kind of manipulation being orchestrated by the ruling NPP.
He said the NDC would ensure that the democratic will of the people is upheld.
Joy FM’s Evans Mensah, who is at the Ghana International Press Centre where the press briefing was held, reported of claims by the Chairman that based on information gathered from their agents and other sources, the NDC is comfortably leading and would certainly win the polls.
Asked by journalists to buttress his upbeat with figures emanating from specific constituencies, he responded that he deemed it not obligatory to do so.
Dr. Kwabena Adjei also called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to announce the election results before the stipulated 72 hours.
Meanwhile, certified election results show of competitive race between the NDC’s Prof. Atta Mills and NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo.
