Portions of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional office in Kumasi have been consumed by fire in what the Regional minister and the Party are treating as arson, Sunday.
Part of the Regional Chairman’s office, windows and doors went up in flames around 1 a.m Sunday and had to be doused by neighbors. This timely intervention by neighbors prevented major damage to property.

The Regional minister, Alexander Ackon says gallons containing a deposit of petrol and other evidence at the scene suggest a deliberate attempt to set the party office ablaze.

The main entrance to the NDC Regional Chairman’s office has been burnt extending into the inner part of the office.
Also, the smell of Kerosene, traces of which can be seen beneath the burnt door frame and two burnt windows to the office fills the atmosphere. Five gallons containing traces of the fuel could be seen lying around.
The security man at the office, Mohammed Abubakar said he heard the engine of a vehicle that sped off moments after the place went up in flames.

The Regional Minister, who came to scene with party executives, City Mayor, Kojo Bonsu, and Deputy Works and Housing minister, Yaw Adusei said the fire was set deliberately to induce fear in ongoing Limited Voter Registration exercise.
