Hundreds of people in Suame and supporters of NDC turned up on Sunday for a health walk organized by aspiring MP for the area, Francis Dodovi.
The exercise, themed “Walking for Unity, Development and Empowerment”, began from the Suame Post Office through the main Suame Round-about, ending at the old Suame Abattoir.
Amid brass band music to urge participants on, many of them had little idea they had covered such long distance in the almost two- hour exercise.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion included Kumasi Mayor, Kojo Bonsu, who describes the walk as a good exercise for all those who took part.
“I think the walk was good, all human beings need to have some kind of exercise or some kind of sport. This ‘jama’ kind of sport walking is healthy for all who participate regularly,” said the Mayor.
Francis Dodovi said the exercise was to help raise the fitness level of the constituents for the up-coming elections on November 7.
Besides, he said, it created awareness of the many problems confronting people in Suame Constituency.
“We need to let the world know of the underdevelopment of our constituency, and to drum home the arduous task ahead of the constituents in terms of development in the area”, he emphasized.
“Through this we are creating awareness that Suame lacks basic amenities like good roads, good medical facilities and schools which have been neglected by the current MP Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu,” the aspirant added.
Francis Dodovi is contesting the NDC slot in Suame with his own friend, Brogya Gyamfi in the November 7 primaries.
He said the time has come for Suame people to vote for change, and he believes he is the man to bring that transformation.
