The students’ wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), known as Tertiary Education and Institutions Network (TEIN), has accused the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), of neglecting students over the issue of increase in fees. The group is calling on Ghanaian students to unite against what it calls astronomical and unacceptable hikes in university fees. The leaders of TEIN on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST), accuse NUGs and the various SRCs of failing to champion the welfare of students. Addressing journalists in Kumasi on Wednesday, the leaders said they will organise protests against the subtle introduction of full cost recovery and other policies that tend to make higher education the preserve of the rich.
