The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on all Ghanaians to fully participate in the National Population and Housing Census exercise currently underway throughout the country.
A statement signed by Mr. James Asante, Director of Communications of the NDC, reminded all that the world over, censuses provide the basis for effective development planning and resource deployment by Governments. “The NDC believes the outcome of the census would support decisions of government and its development partners in projections, planning and implementation of national development programmes.”
The statement quoted the Statistical Service of Ghana, managers of the exercise as saying that the National Population and Housing Census is one of the most important data gathering exercises through which the Government of Ghana would be informed about the real needs of the people, explaining that “The enormous socio-economic and political ramifications of this all important event make it imperative for all Ghanaians to participate actively in the process to meet the aims and objectives underpinning the exercise.
“Let us all; as civil society, politicians, professionals, the media and students rally behind the Government and the Statistical Service to realize the full benefits of the exercise by cooperating with enumerators and help build a vibrant and prosperous society now and for the future for ourselves, our children and our guests.”
