The 2025 edition of the Ngmayem Festival Mock Durbar brought a fresh burst of colour and energy to this year’s celebrations, as pupils from selected basic schools across the Manya Krobo Traditional Area reenacted the grand durbar with striking precision and enthusiasm.

Held at the mini durbar grounds behind the Konor’s Palace at Odumase-Krobo, the event delivered a captivating display of culture, tradition, and youthful brilliance. Anticipation was high ahead of the programme, and the turnout reflected it. A large crowd of both young and old filled the venue, eager to witness the children’s performances.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement. The splendour and confidence the pupils displayed underscored how quickly the Mock Durbar is becoming a major highlight of the Ngmayem Festival.

A total of fourteen basic schools took part in this year’s edition. Participating schools included Nuaso Roman Catholic JHS (Suisi Division), Kpong Presby JHS (Akwernor Division), Nuaso Presby JHS (Dorm Division), Atua St. Paul’s JHS (Manya Division), Mount Mary Demonstration JHS (Djebiam Division), and Odumase Anglican JHS (Piengua Division).

Akro M.A. JHS represented the Konor/Paramountcy, while Kpong Evangelical Presbyterian JHS played the role of the Ewe settler community. Agormanya Islamic JHS featured as the Zongo/Muslim settler community, and Odumase Presby JHS represented the President of the Regional House of Chiefs.

Standward Academy also played a key role, providing students to act as members of the clergy and traditional priests. Halter Academy supplied pupils who performed as Members of Parliament and Municipal/District Chief Executives.

Akro Senior High School and Manya Krobo Senior High School provided students to represent the Eastern Regional Minister and the President of the Republic, serving as Guest of Honour and Special Guest of Honour, respectively.

This year’s Ngmayem Festival, celebrated by the chiefs and people of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, ran from Sunday, 26 October to Sunday, 2 November 2025, under the theme: “Celebrating Our Heritage, Building Our Communities with a Purpose.”
