The Intervention Forum, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District has presented 200 textbooks, fifty children's toys and five bales of second-hand clothing to some vulnerable women and 100 orphans and needy children in three communities in the Awutu Obrachire area.
Presenting the items to beneficiaries from Odumasi, Obrachire and Akropong Madam Nora Ollennu, Chief Executive Officer of the Organisation said the clothing were to help the women in their farming activities.
She said the books were to encourage the pupils to learn hard to pass their examinations, while the other materials were Christmas gifts for the women.
According to Madam Ollennu, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, ADRA-Ghana donated the materials upon request by the NGO.
She said the NGO had been engaged in women's empowerment and HIV/AIDS campaign and stressed that AIDS was real, urging the youth to be mindful of their sexual behaviour to avoid contracting the pandemic.
Madam Ollennu also urged parents to ensure strict supervision over their children, especially the girls with the arrival of the Christmas, to ensure that they did not engage in immoral activities that would expose them to HIV/AIDS.
