African Champions, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are through to the finals of the FIFA World Under-17 Championships after beating Germany 3:1 in the semi finals.
Nigeria scored twice in the opening 20 minutes and added the third deep into stoppage time exploiting a disastrous clearance from German goalkeeper Fabian Giefer whose kick from his 6-yard box landed in front of a Nigerian attacker just outside the 18-yard box.
The Germans had clawed a goal back before the half-time break.
Nigeria thus play European Champions, La SelecciĂłn of Spain in the finals on Sunday.
Spain edged out Ghana’s Black Starlets 2:1 after a nail-biting, 120 minutes of football on Wednesday.
The Starlets will play the Germans in the third-place game on Sunday. Earlier in the Group Games, the Germans defeated the Starlets 2:1 in the second Group F matches.
Nigeria’s Chrisantus Macauley inched further towards the Golden Boot award with a goal against the Germans to increase his tally to seven goals.
