The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in its bid to boost the moral of the players of the senior national team, Black Stars, at the on-going African Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea has surprised the team with some homegrown entertainment.
The team, who are through to the semi-finals of the tournament after beating Tunisia in a nerve-racking knockout match Sunday night, may have had the inspiration from a visit on Saturday by the Youth and Sports minister, Hon. Kofi Humado, after their regular training session.
Just when the team thought they’ve seen it all, they were hit with the announcement of surprise performances from some of the country’s top entertainers, notably, gospel group, No Tribe led by Nacy, Hi-Life musician, Kwabena Kwabena and comedian Funny Face.
The three, who attended the team’s training session on Saturday, were billed to perform to entertain and encourage the entire playing body as they inch closer to a fifth continental trophy at this year’s tournament.
Nacy told Muti-TV in an interview in Gabon that “…We are also here to also share our quota to support whatever that is happening here [Gabon] to also bring the good news from Ghana as everybody is supporting them and also help them in singing, saying the word of the Lord to them, give them the moral [support] so that they can continue the good work that they are doing.”
According the group, they “were informed that they want something very cool, something gospel that will ginger them and that will motivate them to do [their] best … we want to boost them so that they will bring the cup.”
Meanwhile, the Stars camp was thrown into a fiesta after they tamed the Carthage Eagles to book a place at the semi-finals of the tournament.
The three visiting entertainers were expected to treat the team to exciting musical performances liaised with rib cracking comedy.
