Health officials in the North Tongu District of the Volta region are on high alert after its closest neighbors recorded Covid-19 cases.
Chief Executive for North Tongu, Richard Collins Arku says the district's proximity to Greater Accra and Eastern region calls for pragmatic steps to prepare the area adequately for any eventuality.
He says it will take the collective efforts of all including the public to help put the district on high alert against Covid-19.
Speaking to Joynews at a short ceremony to present Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the health workers at Catholic Hospital in Battor, he called on residents to support the fight by adhering to all Covid-19 protocols announced by the Ministry of Health.
"We are not in normal times and the world is fighting an unknown enemy . We must all come together and fight this enemy," Mr Arku said
The items which cost the assembly a whooping GH¢49,000 cedis is expected to supplement government's efforts.

Items donated included 500 and 150 pieces each of Surgical Face and N95 Nose Masks, 10 pieces of Infrared Thermometer guns, 25 reusable overall and 50 boxes of disposable gloves.
Others were 60 pieces of goggles, hand sanitizer and 30 pieces of Gumboots, surgical gloves, among others.
Mr. Arku who also promised GH¢10,000 to support the building of an isolation center.
Mr Richard Collins Arku, however, commended management and staff of the Battor Catholic Hospital for their hard work and urged them to maintain their dedication in the face of Covid-19 pandemic.
He promised government's commitment to meet the needs of Ghanaians even in difficult times.
Dr. Salia Naseem who received the items on behalf of the hospital commended the DCE who is also the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the North Tongu constituency for his continued support to the hospital.
