In a heartfelt gesture aimed at bringing joy to the lives of flood victims in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, the Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced plans to host a mega Christmas party for all those affected by the recent floods caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
This initiative reflects the MP's commitment to uplifting the spirits of the community and providing a beacon of hope during challenging times.
The North Tongu District has been grappling with the aftermath of severe floods that have left many families displaced and facing hardship. Recognising the need for solidarity and support, Mr Ablakwa has taken it upon himself to organise a festive celebration that aims to not only entertain but also uplift the spirits of those affected by the spillage.
Scheduled for December 24, 2023, the mega Christmas party will be a community-wide event, inviting all flood victims from various parts of the district to come together for a day of joy, laughter, and shared camaraderie. The venue, Battor, will be transformed into a festive wonderland, complete with decorations, entertainment, and a sumptuous feast.
Mr Ablakwa expressed his deep concern for the well-being of the flood victims, stating, "The recent floods have had a profound impact on the lives of our fellow citizens, and it is important for us to come together as a community during these challenging times.
“Christmas is a season of unity, love, and giving, and this mega party is a small way for us to share in the spirit of the holidays with those who need it most."
The event will feature live music, dance performances, and entertainment tailored for all age groups. In addition to the festive atmosphere, the mega Christmas party will also serve as a platform for the distribution of essential relief items, including food supplies, clothing, and other necessities, generously provided by local businesses and well-wishers.
Community leaders and residents have lauded MP for his proactive approach to providing support to the flood victims and for his commitment to fostering a sense of togetherness during trying times.
