The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has urged the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to continue strengthening its regulatory capacity to stay ahead of industry developments.
Speaking during his visit to the NPA on Wednesday, October 15, Mr Jinapor observed that the petroleum industry often advances faster than regulation, but assured that this would no longer be the case.
“Historically, the industry has often been ahead of the regulator. But let me assure you: this time, it will be different,” he declared.

He said government is determined to empower the NPA through law, policy, and human capacity development to ensure it remains an agile and responsive regulator.
“We are determined to empower the NPA to stay ahead through law, policy, systems, and human capacity,” he said.

The Minister commended the Authority’s leadership and staff for their professionalism, describing their role as critical to Ghana’s energy stability.
“Every time you enforce a safety standard, monitor a price, or protect a consumer, you are upholding the integrity of our entire energy sector,” he noted.
Mr Jinapor emphasised that the Ministry would continue supporting the NPA to build a “strong, adaptive, and respected” regulatory institution capable of meeting the demands of a changing energy landscape.
