Ongoing polling station and constituency executive elections of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been temporarily suspended in the Eastern and Northern Regions.
The elections are however taking place in eight other regions across the country, today Saturday December 14, 2013.
In the Eastern Region, party executives are commiserating with the family of the bereaved National Women’s Organiser of the party, Otiko Djaba.
In the Northern Region also, the constituency and polling station executive elections are not going on because of "challenges" in the constituencies' voters register.
NPP Northern Regional Secretary, Faisal Gbanjiri explained that "most of the constituencies have not finished with their voters album [register]...and that is the basis on which we are going to conduct the elections".
He said the elections have been rescheduled to take place on December 17, 2013, but was optimistic the national deadline of March 1, 2014 would be met.
The new date for the elections in the Eastern Region is yet to be set.
