An unidentified person is said to have sprayed a substance believed to be pepper on delegates casting their votes to elect a candidate to represent the New Patriotic Party in the 2016 elections.
No one in particular was the target of this pepper spray, according to Joy News Felix Akoyam who was caught in the discomforting incident.
He said the pepper was sprayed into the atmosphere at the voting centre. Many people including Felix coughed repeatedly after inhaling the air diffused with the substance.
The police are on the heels of the suspect, Felix said.
However, the process is going on smoothly in spite of the pepper spray.
A former minister of state and former MP for Salaga Abubakar Saddique Boniface is being contested by five others: Francis Ayenu, Jamal Mustapha, Samuel Douglas Quansah, Eric Nartey Yeboah, and Alexander Nyarko Anim.
Voting is taking place in some 247 constituencies across the country as delegates of the opposition New Patriotic Party elect their parliamentary candidates.
