About nine schools qualified for the one-eighth stage of the 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) on day three of the competition.
Kumasi-based Osei Kyeretwie SHS (OKESS) scored the highest points of the day.
With 61 points, the school beat Krachi SHS and T.I. AMASS, Potsin to win the contest. The losing schools finished the competition with 16 and 13 points respectively.

OKESS also walked away with GHC800 in the Goil Riddle Bonanza after answering three out of four riddles correctly.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Girls' SHS with 53 points won their contest. They competed with Kumasi Wesley Girls SHS and Zion College.
Kumasi Wesley finished with 33 and Zion College lost with 19 points.

Reigning Western Zonal Champions Shama Senior High School (SHASS) have also qualified for the one-eighth stage of the competition.
SHASS secured 46 points to beat Notre Dam Seminary SHS and Notre Dame Girls to win their contests. The schools lost with 43 points and 22 points respectively.

Tarkwa-based Fiaseman SHS secured a spot at the one-eighth stage of the competition.
They won their contest with 26 points, beating Lawra SHS who finished with 22 points and Ghana SHS, Tamale who lost with 21 points.

Ashaiman SHS has qualified to compete at the one-eighth stage of the NSMQ. They competed with Mankranso SHS and Berekum SHS.
The Accra-based school won with 37 points while their competitors lost with 33 and 11 points respectively.

Tamale SHS also qualified for a spot at the one-eighth stage. With 47 points, they beat Abor SHS and Queen of Peace SHS to win the contest.

For answering three riddles correctly in the Goil Riddle Boanaza, Tamale SHS walked away with GHC800.

Toase SHS has qualified for the one-eighth stage.
After competing with Labone SHS and Ola Girls' SHS, Kenyasi, Toase SHS came first with 28 points while the others lost with 27 points and 16 points respectively.

In a shocking twist, Kumasi Sec. Tech. School won the competition against Holy Child SHS and Our Lady of Mercy SHS.
The nail-biting contest ended with a tie. Kumasi Sec Tech and Holy Child completed round five with 30 points each.
But, the Kumasi-based high school answered the tie-breaker question correctly to secure a spot.

Asanteman SHS also secured a spot at the one-eighth stage of the competition. They beat Edinaman SHS and Awe SHTS with 33 points.

Meanwhile, some of these schools may have lost today’s contest but the prelims may not be the last NSMQ competition for them this year.
About 15 schools that had high marks but did not win, after a tally, will secure a chance to compete in the one-eighth stage.
