Another National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) giant has fallen. Bishop Herman College, one of the respected seeded schools, has lost its spot to the fast-rising Our Lady of Grace Senior High School in one of the most dramatic contests of this year’s quiz.
The contest, which also featured Ejisuman SHS, began with a tight first round as both Bishop Herman and Our Lady of Grace ended neck and neck with 18 points apiece. Ejisuman trailed behind with nine points.
But everything changed in the speed race of round two. Our Lady of Grace (OLAG) dominated the buzzer, answering question after question to build a commanding 39 points, leaving Bishop Herman at 18 and Ejisuman just a point behind with 17.

Though OLAG struggled slightly in the problem-solving round, managing only one out of 10, the wide gap from earlier rounds kept them firmly in the lead. Bishop Herman scored five in that round, while Ejisuman failed to register a point.
By the fourth round, Our Lady of Grace had extended their lead to 50 points, with Bishop Herman chasing at 36 and Ejisuman on 27.
And when the final bell rang, there was no doubt about the result — OLAG had dethroned a giant. They sealed the contest with 56 points, while Bishop Herman finished with 39 and Ejisuman with 27.
This marks only Our Lady of Grace’s second appearance in the National Science and Maths Quiz, and they’ve already earned a place among the seeded schools — a feat that sends a strong message to Ghana’s traditional powerhouses.
