Ghana Football Association president, Kwasi Nyantakyi says he is not obliged to name sponsors who funded the hosting of some 20 football federations president’s across Africa who graced the launch of Ghana's Goal Project 3 event last month.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning Show, Mr. Nyantakyi noted that his position as the President of the Ghana Football Association does not make him a public officer and the money spent on the invited guests are gifts from individuals and benefactors who are in support of the FA's cause and his CAF Executive Committee aspiration.
He stressed that, as part of the agreement with those that funded the stay of the visitors, he was not supposed to publicly give out their names as sponsors and he will respect request.
Touching on the local Black Stars' abysmal performance in their opening game against South Africa in the on-going CHAN tournament in Sudan, the FA Boss stated that the technical team and the playing body are aware of the shame that will be on Ghana if they fail to make it to the knockout stages and even go ahead to win the ultimate after Ghana's recent number one ranking on the continent by FIFA.
Mr. Nyantakyi said that he was worried with the outcome of the first game but believes the team can turn things around in their next game against Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
He called on Ghanaians to support the team and desist from blame games which can disrupt the team’s focus.
