The Western Regional Secretariat of the National Youth Council (NYC) has urged youth organizations to intensify their education on morality among the youth.
In a New Year message signed by Emmanuel Papa Assan, he said the youth were the backbone of the country and their neglect could have serious consequences on the development of the nation.
He said morality among the youths was declining due to migration, liberalisation and negative foreign cultural influences.
Mr Assan said the youth should be educated to understand the importance of morality, the values of the culture of Ghanaians and to encourage them to dress appropriately.
"When our young people know and take up their responsibilities in the society, their family and marriage, they can avoid the many social problems and reverse the increasing broken marriages and single parenthood that confronts the nation," he stressed.
He urged the youth not allow themselves to be used negatively during the 2008 general elections.Source: GNA
