The driver of a Nissan pick-up vehicle died on the spot when he ran into a stationary truck at McCarthy Hill junction along the Mallam-Kasoa highway.
The truck is said to have been abandoned in the middle of the road since Thursday night.
But the deceased whose name was given only as Isaac realized too late the vehicle ahead was not moving and ran into it.
Joy News’ Fiifi Koomson reported the Nissan pick-up was “seriously damaged” and “volunteers had to cut parts of the vehicle to get [the deceased]” from behind the steering.
He reports the traffic situation worsened.
“The streets are almost gridlocked and vehicular movement has been seriously impeded,” he said.
The Kasoa-Mallam stretch of road is notorious for frequent vehicular accidents.
More than 30 lives have been lost in road accidents this year alone.
