If any of the positions contested for at the just ended New Patriotic Party National Delegates Conference was keen, that position was the Women's Organiser position.
Incumbent Otiko Djaba retained her position beating her bitter rival Tina Mensah by just a whisker.
Her victory was not without a fight though.
After months of accusations and counter accusations, the two women were embroiled in heated exchanges at the Tamale Sports Stadium during the Conference.
A minor misunderstanding between polling agents of the two aspirants led to the two aspiring National Women's Organiser engaging in a serious verbal confrontation.
Joy News' Elton John Brobbey who was close to the incident reported that the agent of Djaba had asked Tina Mensah to go back during the voting.
Tina Mensah's agent was provoked by the directive and issued a counter directive for Otiko to go back. The two aspirants were then closely monitoring events.
The comments by the two agents knocked the heads of the aspirants together culminating in a serious verbal confrontation.
Even though none of the two lifted a hand, the verbal war was manifest.
Their rivalry appeared to have influenced the voting pattern with the two going neck-to-neck at each other.
Otiko polled 276 votes whilst Tina Mensah polled 250. Mawusi Awity came third with 113 votes.
Having retained the position, Otiko Djaba has promised a crusade to unite all members and women's groups in the party.
