The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has enjoined Ghanaians to play vital roles to make the December 28 presidential run-off peaceful.He cautioned the electorate, notably politicians, to be circumspect about their utterances and actions before, during and after the elections so as to uphold the peace of the country.Ghana, Otumfuo stressed, was the only place the citizenry could refer to as their home and thus admonished the populace to shun acts that could throw the country into turmoil.The Asantehene made the remark when Most Rev. Leon Kalenga, the Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi.Otumfuo as well called for constant collaboration between traditional authorities and the church, observing that could impact positively on the proper development of society.The Manhyia palace, he noted, had since time immemorial joined forces with the Roman Catholic Church to better the lives of the deprived in society.Otumfuo stated further: “That is why education, health and provision of potable drinking water are always on the programmes of Manhyia palace.”Most Rev. Leon Kalenga was accompanied to the palace by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, His Grace Thomas K. Mensah.In his remark, Most Rev. Kalenga commended Otumfuo for his passion for education.He especially heaped tons of praises on the Asantehene for creating an education fund which was taking care of brilliant but needy students in the country, urging him to keep up his good works.Most Rev. Kalenga also expressed his profound gratitude to the Asantehene for the cordial relationship that exists between the palace and the church, adding that he had been informed about Otumfuo’s invaluable assistance to the churches in Kumasi.Source: Daily Guide
