Over 168k married women cheat on their spouses – GSS report

‘Women don’t cheat!’ Except for the over 168,000 married women who thought a little extra marital roll in the hay was their human right too.

Unfortunately for them, they were captured in the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey from the Ghana Statistical Service.

According to the report, 3.8% of married women in Ghana have had an extramarital affair.

Less than one per cent (0.9%) of married women also had two or more partners.

Also, 4.0% of divorced /separated/widowed women in Ghana have two or more partners and 46.6% have had sexual intercourse with persons who are neither their husbands nor lived with them.

Meanwhile, about 3.5% of women aged 15-24 have two or more partners, while 46.1% have had sexual intercourse with persons who are neither their husbands nor lived with them.

In a related development, the Report revealed that women between the ages of 20-24 had more sexual partners in comparison to other age groups.

For instance, while 3.4% of women aged 20-24 had two or more partners and 41.6% had sexual intercourse with persons who are neither their husbands, 3.3% of those aged 25-29 had two or more partners and 2.1% of their population had sexual intercourse with persons who are neither their husbands nor lived with them.

The percentages staggeringly drop amongst women aged 30-39 where only 1.5% of them had two or more partners and 14.4% had sexual intercourse with persons who were neither their husbands nor lived with them.

Amongst the 40-49-year-old group, less than one per cent (0.8%) had two or more partners and 11.4% had sexual intercourse with persons who were neither their husbands nor lived with them.
