The Progressive Alliance of Ghana (PAG) has condemned the violent attacks on journalists and political actors during the Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun held on Friday, July 11.
In a statement signed by the party’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr. John Kpikpi, PAG expressed deep concern over the assaults reported at some of the 19 polling stations where the rerun took place.
The party described the incidents as a serious threat to Ghana’s democracy and press freedom.
“We are deeply disturbed by reports that some journalists and political actors were physically attacked while carrying out their legitimate duties,” the statement said.
PAG is calling on the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission to investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The party also urged political parties to uphold peace and protect the integrity of the country’s electoral process.
