Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Reverend Charles Palmer-Buckle has expressed disappointment in law enforcement agencies for their failure to bring charges against American R&B musician, Chris Brown for smoking in public during his recent performance in Ghana.According to him, Ghana should have the courage to protect its citizenry against what he describes as the “global tsunami of consumerism” if the country is to play a meaningful role on the global stage. The act by Chris Brown, at the Hope City Concert at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 5, has been condemned by civil society organisations and some music fans.Aside from the violation of Ghanaian laws by the American entertainer, Palmer-Buckle also condemned the unbridled illegal gold mining activities by Chinese in the country. Most Rev. Palmer-Buckle was speaking on the subject “The Global Citizen” at the grand finale of Legacy & Legacy’s Springboard 2013 Road Show in Kumasi.According to Metropolitan Archbishop, he was “very shocked that the so called Chris Brown dare to smoke Indian herb in public and so far I haven’t heard any of our law enforcement agencies talking about it as a total offence.”“Do you know how many people are already imitating that crap, that rubbish?” he quizzed and added, “Global consumers of nonsense.”
