The Head of Programmes at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Mr Kojo Asante, has emphasized the need for political parties to fashion their manifestoes to suit the broader development objectives in the National Development Agenda.
This, according to him, would ensure the continuity of running programmes that had been initiated by past governments.
Mr Asante added that having a common national development agenda has been debated extensively in the past and that what was required now was to move the subject forward to the long-term formulation and implementation plan.
He was speaking at a forum organised by Joy FM on the theme: Building Consensus on a National Development Agenda held at the Coconut Groove Regency Hotel in Accra.
Contributing to the discussion, the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Mr P.V Obeng, stated that there was already a medium term plan in operation, and that there was a long-term plan in the pipeline to be presented to the public for review and acceptance.
He said it would be possible for such propositions to be done when the long-term plan is completed and accepted for enforcement.
