Penfield High School, a leading educational institution in Ghana has inaugurated a multi-purpose state of the art library. At a short but impressive ceremony held at the school's campus in Oyarifa in the Greater Accra Region, authorities say the library can become "the best if not the best in West Africa". Addressing a gathering of students, parents, teachers and a high level community of Ghana's academia, Chief Executive Officer of the Penfield High School Mr. Samuel Anim Ayeko said the library will come in handy to help propel the children to greater heights. The library he said consist of two main themes orthodox, which takes care of physical books and the other, a modern e-library, which he hopes, will open up a world of unlimited learning opportunities for the students. The e-library he noted, currently has a database of 5000 books on its server, which should allow the students to do extensive research on topics and subjects crucial to their areas of study. The school is hoping to switch to branded and personalized learning tablets for all students by the end of 2013. Presently 45 percent complete, the library is a highly resourced facility with a good deal of intra and inter connectivity, authorities say. The library is named after Professor Emerita Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf, Ghana's first female professor Emerita. Touching on the choice of the learned professor, the CEO said the school set out to choose a distinguished individual who has attained the highest level of education, and who would be an inspiration to the students, hence the choice of Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf. Accepting the honour done her, Professor Emerita Elizabeth, advised the students to take their education serious, adding that their future lies in what they make of their lives today. Established in 2008, Penfield is a wholly Ghanaian owned private Christian school. It is co-educational, mainly boarding and operates a hybrid system of education that combines the Ghanaian and British Curricula, tailor-made to position its students for growth.
