First Atlantic Bank put up and spirited performance to annex the men's football title of the all-Banks edition of the Joy Sports Invitational tournament held at the University of Ghana Athletics Oval.
This was at the expense of HFC Bank who proved tough customers on the day.
First Atlantic spotting their trendy grey and purple jerseys created some good chances but were unable to convert them during regulation time.
HFC Bank in their traditional white and blue jersey's were hoping to replicate their previous 2-0 winning performance against NIB in the final game but had it tough as First Atlantic had a tight midfield.
After a goalless drawn game in regulation time, the two sides settled for s pulsating penalty shootout. It was the First Atlantic lads who stood above the chills to win 5-4.
The First Atlantaic lads burst into wild celebrations after that big feat. GN Bank also added their names to the list of winners after defeating ADB in the volleyball event.
A last minute appearance by HFC Bank MD Mr Robert Le Hunt seemed to have given the HFC sprinters extra energy. They overcame a slow start in the first leg to beat Team Multimedia in the final stretch in the 4 by 100m.
Earlier in the day, ADB had won the women’s 50-metre race while Team Multimedia were crowned champions of the men’s 100-metre sprint and the women’s penalty shootout.
The maiden Edition of the Joy Sports Invitational All Banks Edition was sponsored by Vodafone Business Solutions and put together by the Joy Sports and Joy Business.
