President John Mahama, on Wednesday, July 8, convened a meeting of the National Security Council to review the recent flooding that affected several communities across parts of the country on June 29.
During the meeting, members of the Council were briefed by the Post-Flood Mitigation Task Force and its subcommittees on the extent of the flooding, ongoing emergency response efforts, and measures being implemented to reduce the risk and impact of future floods.
The meeting also focused on strengthening coordination among state institutions involved in disaster response and flood mitigation as the government continues efforts to support affected communities and improve the country's preparedness for similar incidents.
